Bruno Engler was born in 1915 in Lugano, Switzerland. He came to Canada
in 1939 and spent over 60 years as a mountain guide, skier, climber and
high altitude photographer in the Canadian Rockies.
Bruno has received an honorary lifetime achievement award from IATSE,
the international photographer's guild, and was named an honorary member
of the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides in 1975.
Bruno's stories and photographs are well known to Banff locals and his
photography is an important part of the history of mountaineering in Banff.
Bruno's photographs were originally installed at The Timberline Hotel
nearly 30 years ago and with major restoration completed, were re-installed
at The Juniper in 2005.
