Summer Weather
Summer is peak tourist season in Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. Wonderful
weather provides opportunities to spend days outside your Rocky Mountain accommodations
enjoying the scenery and the wildlife while hiking in the Canadian Rockies. In early June, hiking
tourists must be wary of elk that like to calve near the town where
they are relatively safe from predators. These mother elk will charge
and injure people who get too close! Early July is a great time to spot
bull elk along the Bow Valley parkway with their antlers in velvet.
In early August grizzly bears congregate in the valley to feed on soap
berries. Days are often hot but it can still get cool at night. Due
to Banff's high Rocky Mountain elevation, weather can range from sun to rain to
snow all on the same day. Average daytime temperatures for the months
of summer are 20 - 25° Celsius (68 - 77° F). Nighttime averages
for summer months range are 10 - 15° Celsius (50 - 59° F). Weather
conditions can change in the blink of an eye when you stay in Banff,
Alberta, Canada accommodations.
